Konecranes America builds a full range of products for the shipbuilding industry.
Only a handful of material handling providers worldwide have the technology to compete in this field, where lifting capacities may be several hundred tons. In addition to EOT cranes of all types, Konecranes America builds plate-handling cranes, turnover cranes and specialized gantries in capacities up to 500 tons to handle the massive modules involved in the construction of today’s increasingly large ships.
At Kvaerner Philadelphia Shipyard, Kvaerner chose Konecranes America Inc. to install 23 EOT cranes built in Konecranes factories all over the world for the timely redevelopment of the former US Navy shipyard in Philadelphia. With the help of Konecranes, the old Navy yard has become one of the most modern shipbuilding facilities in North America.
